Policy based Management
The WorkplaceControl for Notes Policy Module enforces Lotus
Notes Client settings from a central database on the Domino Server.
The Lotus Notes client will proactively check this central database
every time the user logs-on to the Lotus Notes client. New settings
that are assigned to the end user will be enforced immediately.
Settings are assigned by Policies or Tasks. Policies are
processed over and over to enforce settings every session. Tasks
are project driven changes and are processed once.
Policy and Task documents can be assigned to end users by
assigning them to individual user names, groups, home/mail server,
or Organizational Units.
When needed Policies are synchronized to a local storage,
so they can be processed at every startup without connecting to the
server. The local storage also allows for enforcing workspace icons
settings at every restart.
WorkplaceControl has all the actions you need to quickly and
simply update your Lotus Notes clients. Ranging from workspace
icons, bookmarks and replication pages to locations, connections
and notes.ini values.

Architecture
On every Lotus Notes Client a small dll file (<50Kb) and
some notes.ini entries are added to allow the client
to connect to the central policy database. All changes are
processed from within the central database, without synchronizing
them to a local storage.
Settings are applied before and immediately after the original
Lotus Notes password prompt. Single sign on and other security
features are not affected.
Logging of the processed policies is added to the policy log
database. Audit info is returned to the audit repository
database.
Evaluation software
The evaluation software provides you with a full feature version
of our product for a limited number of users. After downloading and
installing you can review all features. If you would like to
actually change settings you need to request a free evaluation
license key from within the application or request one by email: wpclicensekey@workplacecontrol.com.
The download package contains the policy module, the policy log
and the audit repository database.
